The rankings are in: According to the latest Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development broadband statistics, the United States has fallen further behind the rest of the world in broadband deployment. As of December 2006 date, the US stands in 15th place, behind Iceland, Canada, Finland, France and Japan. The US has slipped from 12th place in just the last 6 months. The continued decline of America's high-speed internet access is a consequence of our country's lack of a comprehensive vision for Broadband policy. The Open Internet Coalition is committed to public policy that reverses this decline and ensures that all Americans have access to open and affordable broadband connectivity across the country. |
